Dziergowice

Dziergowice is a village in the Opolskie Voivodeship, which has much to offer. In previous posts, I mentioned only some of the interesting places. This time I went here by bicycle. You can go here from Gliwice, Kędzierzyn-Koźle or Rybnik. Roads lead among the surrounding fields and forests - there are not many cars on the road.

From the side of the village of Lubieszów, there is a chapel in a beautiful neighborhood of farmlands and forests. The chapel is renovated and painted in blue. The next stop was Stanica Dziergowice where there is a crossing to the Odra river until today - there is also a place for rest and relaxation in the beautiful natural setting. It is also worth taking a short stroll around the volunteer fire brigade building. The building is right next to a well-groomed pond. Going in the direction of Solarnia is beautiful Silesian Insurgents' Monument - commemorating three Silesian Uprisings.

Dziergowice, Flak-Großbatterie

During World War II, German units were stationed in the Dziergowice area. These units were part of the Luftwaffe air defense system.

The soldiers were responsible for the handling of the FuMG-65 terrestrial radar. FuMG 65 Würzburg-Riese ("the Great Würzburg"), which had a 7.4 m antenna and a transmitter with a range of up to 70 km. FuMG 65 were installed in permanent ground stations, which were built around 1500. Currently, the radar base can be found in the village of Dziergowice.

Radar cooperated with a battery of stationary anti-aircraft guns FlaK 39 (10.5 cm). You can still find the concrete foundations for these guns.

Dziergowice is a small village located in the province of Opole. The first information about it comes from 1274. It was here that the crossing to the other side of the Oder was going to the village of Przewóz.

Tourist attractions of the village are primarily water reservoirs that are the remains of excavations of gravel. Dziergowice also has a historic church. St. Anna and the cemetery chapel from 1794.

During the Second World War, the German units were stationed in the Dziergowice area. The soldiers were responsible for handling the FuMG-65 ground radar and the FlaK 39 anti-aircraft battery cooperating with the radar.
