Are religious sites worth visiting as a tourist? In my opinion, it is worth it, no matter if it will be a Catholic church like the Cathedral in Koszalin, or a Buddhist temple, a mosque or a synagogue.
Each of these places is associated with the history and culture of the region, so we can learn more about the place visited. In addition, often the life of cities or towns is woven around these shrines. When you are looking for food, toilet, information or help - look for temples.
The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary was built in the years 1300–1333 as a result of the growing city and the Cistercian monastery. At first, it served as a Catholic temple, then in the years from 1534 to 1945, it was an evangelical temple. For the construction of the city walls (1291-1310) of Koszalin, seven furnaces for firing bricks were created near the city, using local deposits of clay. It is probable that after the completion of these works, the same sources came from the same brick for the construction of the church because they are similar in size.
The cathedral is the most valuable monument of Koszalin. The church has survived to our times in a very good architectural form, despite the numerous fires of the city as well as wars or sieges (in 1389, 1504, 1718, 1760, 1761, 1812 and 1945).
